Mantra Monday: “I Honor My Connection to the Universe.”

The crown chakra is associated with being connected to a higher power. You can choose to sub in God, the Divine, my Inner Wisdom or any word/entity that better resounds within your soul. The Universe is what makes most sense for me. I feel that it covers all beings, nature and celestial entities.

Deficiencies in the crown chakra are associated with a lack of connection, skepticism or confusion. Excess energy in the crown chakra can manifest itself in hyper-spiritualization and a lack of grounding in the real world.

Forced religiosity and a lack of questioning or exploration of spirituality can also throw the crown chakra out of alignment. For myself, I believe my crown chakra has always been seeking a type of connection, but it did not find it until I became an adult. I was not finding it in church while growing. I had so many questions and things being taught were not adding up to me. For a few years in my early adulthood, I tried to shut my crown chakra off completely and deny any connection with a higher power or spirituality. In the past few years, I have been working to re-establish that connection in new ways, which sparked the development of this blog.

I chose lotus pose (padmasana) to work on my crown chakra. Lotus pose is both grounding and lifting. Sitting in the stillness of meditation with the intent to listen and connect opens up the crown chakra. Meditation is what has helped me establish and explore my connection the Universe, the Divine, God and my Inner Wisdom.

Music Monday: The Grounding Edition

Ed & I are both fortunate enough to have this whole entire week off! This is one of the many bonuses of working for the public school system. I have to say, this week is SO incredibly needed. I have felt myself caught up in the absolute whirlwind of work. The past month has been hectic and I found myself going in earlier, staying later and skipping yoga classes or my morning meditation, to be at work more.

I definitely need some time to reconnect back with the earth, beings outside of work, my soul, my source and guides.

I find that connection strongest in the morning, when I wake before everyone else in my home, light some candles, diffuse lemongrass oil, drink herbal tea and journal, read, meditate, sit and BE.

I also find that connection in nature. It has been far too long since I have been amongst the beaches, deserts and mountains of Southern California and I plan to visit each of those landscapes, in this next week. (You can follow my journey to Venice Beach, parts of The Pacific Crest Trail and Joshua Tree through my Instagram.)

This song is from an album of chants by Sacred Spirit. I was completely entranced the first time I heard it. It calls to me and draws me in to a state of relaxation and meditation. It’s called “Cradlesong” and it definitely resonates within me as a song of nurturing, care and unconditional love.

I feel the need for all of those things currently and plan to spend this week giving myself just that. I feel the need to be grounded and connected, renewed and refreshed to return to work after my vacation and prepared to be better.

How do you find that connection and grounding, when you lose it?

Deepak Chopra & Oprah’s 21 Day Meditation Challenge

It’s time for one of Deepak Chopra & Oprah’s 21 Day Meditation Experiences!

I have done two of their Meditation Experiences before and have loved them! You can sign up for free and each day, you will receive an email with a link to that day’s guided meditation. Oprah generally gives an intro into the day’s theme and Deepak guides you through the meditation, with his soothing voice and pearls of wisdom.

These 21 day experiences are a great way to establish a meditation practice and a great introduction to meditation, for those who may be intimidated by how to even get started. Each meditation is about 20 minutes long and can be done at anytime throughout the day.

I will be starting on November 3rd and would love if you joined me! You can sign up by clicking here.

I think it is such a beautiful thing to have beings meditating all around the world and raising the collective consciousness for love, peace and wisdom. Please let me know if you have any questions and I hope you joint me on the meditation cushion!

In love and sisterhood,
