The beginning of love is to let those we love be perfectly themselves, and not to twist them to fit our own image. Otherwise we love only the reflection of ourselves we find in them. Thomas Merton
As Angelina and I progress from religious devotees to spiritual seekers, we thought it would be fun to interview our friends about spirituality and their spiritual practices. It was a fun idea concocted over lunch at Bratworks Natural Gourmet Hotdogs; in between sessions and coming up for air – these hot dogs are deeeeeelish – we thought of simple questions we could ask those willing to participate.
Although it was a fun idea to create, I was a bit skeptical about the response we’d get from friends who we knew had a spiritual background. Much to our surprise many of those asked responded very positively and loved the idea of sharing something so sacred. Our first interview will be from a male friend of mine who was in the seminary the same time that I was studying for the priesthood. It’s been over fifteen years since we first enrolled and thirteen years since we left but we’ve managed to keep in touch.
As I’ve been thinking about this new blog spot, which will have a regular time slot on Tuesday, I’m excited to see the many different attitudes, ideas and beliefs we’ll encounter; I’m also interested in seeing if there are any patterns or similarities that come about.
P.S. If you’d like to be interviewed please respond and let us know!
